Week 8 mood broad about installation

Image
The composition/installation above i found out on the pinterest. The Chinese word at the bottle means "shadow".

Week 8 video testing &feedback

I choose the line: it is morning because things to be done line up in front of me and say, Look here I choose this one because it can contain quiet different moods according to the situation. I came up with the idea earlier this week. I was going to combine the two videos into one. the contrast of the two footage suggest that a particular situation could be a cause for optimism or pessimism. it is the answer of the question: "Is the glass half empty or half full?"   Feedback: The videos here are lack of tone of the words. In another word, the word is supposed to be the main character but not the music. Don't create things that is just beautiful but sort of meaningless.  The thing we are creating should make people want to see. I think the video is just not attractive enough to match this point.

Week 7 words on the poem

The words that intrigue me on the selected poems: The Visit approach the world believes in independence be boisterous Here's the world on a good day slightly away the sun was in its eyes  Here it is. Here's the world on a good day, turned slightly away, but this is no offence, merely the sun was in its eyes and it turned briefly to avoid being blinded by it. Look Here darkness the blue and white teapot fresh tea it is morning because things to be done line up in front of me and say, Look here THE MAN WITH THE WOODEN LEG  a man who lived quite  in the war  beautiful smile And such a big man to live in a very small house  ugly noise

Week 7 photographic research

Image
As the tutor suggested on the class. I did some research about Photography. The research here is just for inspiration or brainstorming. Photographer: Marc Riboud I like the composition of this one. It is intriguing. Probably the most iconic photo for Marc Riboud. The character on the right shows a very strong emotion on this picture. The blocking on this one is just epic. Besides, i feel like it most likely be relative to my project among these photos.

Week 6 (week 8) Final video and the rending process

Process: I draw a series of picture in Photoshop. Adjusting the speed(frames) of the movement afterward. The one showing below is the raw video without special effect. To rending the explosion effect properly, I post-render it in after effect. To get the effect properly, i also draw a color background for it.  The effect tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWNE_p5ApgQ&index=6&list=PLfpJvyBOoUh8z2q36wHKvQ-S5yXRUm_kx&t=1223s

Week 5.2 (week 7) animation samples

Image
Here are the testing sample of the animations Background layer

Week 5.1 (week6) animation processing earlier stage

Image
I decide to switch back to depression as the theme of project. Actually, i come up with the animation idea on week 4. However, I did not work on it because i thought it is too risky as i has never created animation before. I am not an animator so i decide to shoot video first and trace it. I thought it is much easier while doing it in this way. But i was wrong. The footage does not look as good as i thought. I was the actor in that footage. It was either i failed to find the right angle or i am just not a good actor(or both), Simply tracing the footage does not create the kind of tension that i seek. Some of the footage has shown below. So i use the footage as a reference to draw animation. I also use the image below as a reference.

week 5.2 (week7) Video after feedback

Here is the anime i have the last week. I reconsider the potential client of this commercial. Beyond the mental health organisation, it could be for art college or city council who is going to hold an art festival. As the emotion here is depression. Expression and relief is all it is about. The character first appears to repress his feeling and break out at the end. It looks like he is angry at the end but to think it in a different way, it can be a kind of expression. To emerge one's emotion. Feedback: 1. I can do more experiment on cropping the image.

week 5.2 (week 7) animation

I decide to work on the emotion of depression rather than loneliness just after the class on week 5. I sent an animation footage to my tutor through e-mail.  Feedback from my tutor: 1.Consider cropping both images more, the large expanse of black could compromise the tension you want to create. 2.The fading in and out of this image feels a bit contrived so you could lose it as with the zoom.  The transition between both images is the crux of the message so be clear what you want to achieve so you don’t delete the story and impact. The video first references despair then morphs into anguish. 3. Reconsider the client. Consider something other than the obvious mental health, someone that your audience would connect with but wouldn’t usually associate this narrative with. It could be for the Police/Army or an insurance company - the impact of losing something very important to you
